Air Canada: Checked Bags Price Increase

Air Canada and WestJet, Canada's most beloved airlines, are joining a growing trend of increasing baggage check-in fees. Following the footsteps of American Airlines, United, and JetBlue in the U.S., both Air Canada and WestJet are implementing hikes in the costs associated with checked bags.

For Air Canada, this entails a fee adjustment for tickets purchased on or after February 28, 2024, affecting basic or standard economy class flights within North and Central America.

The fee for a first checked bag per one-way trip rises from $30 to $35, while the fee for a second bag remains unchanged at $50. Baggage fees with Air Canada are subject to variation based on fare class, destination, and Aeroplan Elite status, with a detailed breakdown available on their website.
