Aeroplan Is Offering Up to a 90% Bonus on Purchased Points ✈️

Aeroplan has launched a new promotion that allows members to receive up to a 90% bonus when purchasing points. For travellers who regularly redeem Aeroplan points for flights, this can be a useful opportunity to top up a balance or unlock a redemption sooner.

Like any points promotion though, the real value depends on how you plan to use the points.

If you want to view the offer directly, you can do so here.

The promotion runs until March 19, 2026.

How the Aeroplan Bonus Works

This promotion provides a tiered bonus depending on how many points you purchase.

  • Buy 4,000 to 19,000 points and receive a 40% bonus

  • Buy 20,000 to 69,000 points and receive a 60% bonus

  • Buy 70,000 points or more and receive a 90% bonus

Some members may see slight variations in their bonus when logging into their Aeroplan account, which is why these promotions are sometimes referred to as “mystery bonuses.”

🤑 What You Are Paying Per Aeroplan Point

At the highest tier, the effective cost works out to roughly:

  • about 1.97 cents per point (CAD) before taxes

  • about 2.07 to 2.27 cents per point after tax depending on the province

This effective cost is useful to keep in mind when comparing it to the value you get from redeeming points for flights.

Aeroplan redemptions vary widely depending on route, timing, and cabin class. Some redemptions deliver strong value relative to the cost of buying points, particularly when used for long-haul or premium cabin flights.

👀 Situations Where Buying Aeroplan Points Can Make Sense

Buying points is not something most travellers do regularly, but there are a few common situations where it can be useful.

Topping Up Your Account

Many Aeroplan members use these promotions to top up their balance for a specific redemption. ✈️

For example, if you have almost enough points for a flight but are short a small amount, buying the difference may allow you to secure the booking immediately.

This is one of the most common uses for point purchase promotions.

Booking Premium Cabin Flights

Aeroplan is known for strong redemption opportunities across its airline partner network.

Premium cabin redemptions such as business class or long-haul flights can sometimes deliver higher value per point compared to economy travel.

In these cases, buying points during a bonus promotion may allow travellers to access flights that would otherwise be much more expensive if paid in cash.

Planning a Specific Redemption

The most practical approach when purchasing points is to do so after you have already identified a flight you want to book.

This ensures you know the exact redemption cost and can determine whether purchasing points helps you reach that goal faster.

When It May Be Better to Earn Points Instead

While buying points can be useful in certain cases, many Aeroplan members prefer to build their balance through everyday spending.

Aeroplan points can be earned through a variety of methods, including:

  • Aeroplan credit cards

  • travel bookings

  • retail partners

  • everyday purchases

Another growing method is earning points on larger expenses that typically do not earn rewards (shameless plug for Chexy 😆)

Bills like:

  • rent

  • property tax

  • tuition

  • utilities

can add up to significant spending over time. Turning those payments into Aeroplan points can help travellers accumulate points more consistently throughout the year.

You can start learning more about this here.

The Bottom Line

If you are considering buying points, the best approach is to first look at the redemption you want and confirm that the numbers make sense for your travel plans.

Aeroplan remains one of Canada’s most flexible travel rewards programs, and promotions like this can be another tool travellers use to get closer to their next trip.

Flying Blue Promo Rewards: 25% Off Business Class Flights From Canada ✈️🌍

Air France and KLM’s Flying Blue program has released its latest monthly Promo Rewards, and this month includes a strong opportunity for Canadian travellers. For March, Flying Blue is offering 25% off the miles normally required for reward flights, including business class routes from Canada to Europe, North Africa, and Turkey.

The promotion is available for bookings made by March 31, 2026, with travel valid through August 31, 2026.

You can view the full promotion here.

What the Flying Blue Promo Rewards Offer 💺

Flying Blue releases discounted award tickets every month through its Promo Rewards program. These offers reduce the number of miles required for specific routes. For this promotion, Canadian departures include Ottawa, Montreal, and Toronto.

Ottawa departures (available to all Flying Blue members):

• 25% off business class reward flights

• Destinations include Europe, Turkey, and North Africa

• Business class awards start at roughly 45,000 Flying Blue miles one way

Montreal and Toronto departures:

• 25% off business class reward flights

• Discount currently limited to Flying Blue Extra subscribers

• Same minimum redemption levels starting around 45,000 miles one way

You can learn more about Flying Blue Extra here.

What Is Flying Blue Extra? 🔍

Flying Blue Extra is a paid annual membership program offered by Air France and KLM that provides additional perks within the loyalty program. Depending on the package selected, members may receive benefits such as:

• Access to discounted reward flights

• Bonus miles on certain bookings

• Additional program benefits across the Flying Blue ecosystem

Flying Blue Extra is a paid annual membership program offered by Air France and KLM that provides additional perks within the loyalty program.

The entry-level package starts at €379 per year (roughly $550–$575 CAD depending on exchange rates) and is available to Flying Blue members globally.

Using American Express Points With Flying Blue 💳

One of the easiest ways for Canadians to access Flying Blue miles is through American Express Membership Rewards points. Membership Rewards transfer to Flying Blue at a 1:1 ratio, and transfers are usually processed quickly.

This means:

37,500 Membership Rewards points could cover a round-trip economy flight during a 25% promo

90,000 points could potentially cover a round-trip business class redemption, depending on availability

Because several American Express cards allow members to earn elevated points on everyday spending, transferring those points to Flying Blue can unlock strong redemption opportunities for long-haul travel.

The Bottom Line 🧳

For travellers who collect American Express Membership Rewards points or Flying Blue miles, these monthly promotions can be a great way to unlock premium travel at a reduced mileage cost.

As always, the best approach is to search availability early, compare travel dates, and confirm the redemption before transferring or purchasing miles. With summer travel approaching, this month’s Promo Rewards could be worth exploring for anyone planning a trip to Europe or beyond. ✨
