Aeroplan Expands Award Availability āļø

Aeroplan has made some changesāand this time, itās all about giving members more ways to use their points. Starting March 25, 2025, Air Canada is expanding its dynamic award pricing model to include United Airlines, Emirates, Flydubai, Etihad Airways, and Canadian regional airlines Calm Air, Canadian North, and PAL Airlines.
This means more reward seats will be available on these airlines than ever before, making it easier to use your Aeroplan points for flights that work for your schedule.
Whatās Changing?
The biggest shift is that these airlines will now follow the Air Canada Flight Reward Chart, where pricing adjusts dynamically based on factors like route, demand, and seasonality. This system already applies to Air Canada flights, and now itās being extended to select partners.

So, what does that mean for you?
ā More availability: Finding award seats should get easier, especially on high-demand routes.
ā Flexible pricing: In some cases, flights could actually cost fewer points than before.
ā Preferred Pricing applies: If you have an Aeroplan co-branded credit card or Elite Status, youāll continue to get access to lower redemption rates.
Of course, with dynamic pricing, thereās always the possibility that some flights may require more points than beforeābut in exchange, youāll hopefully be seeing a lot less of the āno award seats availableā.
Etihad Airways Business Class Rewards Are Back! š
Some much-needed news for premium travelers: Etihad Airways Business Class award availability will return across the system on March 25, 2025. Etihad is known for its luxurious cabins, and now Aeroplan members will once again be able to redeem points for these seats.
The Bottom Line: A Win for Aeroplan Members š
At the end of the day, more availability and more options are always a good thing. While pricing will fluctuate, the ability to find and book flights with your points should become easier. And with the added benefit of Preferred Pricing for cardholders and Elite members, thereās still plenty of opportunity to maximize the value of your Aeroplan points.
The best strategy? Plan ahead and stay flexible, as we always say. Keep an eye on redemption rates and grab flights when you find a great dealāespecially before March 25 if you want to lock in current partner pricing.
Get Up to 30% Off When You Buy Aeroplan Points ā Limited-Time Offer! ā
Looking to top up your Aeroplan balance? Nowās your chance to buy points at a discount! Until February 18, 2025, you can get up to 30% off when purchasing Aeroplan points. This could be a great opportunity if youāre close to an award redemption or need a quick boost for your next trip.
How the Discount Works
The more points you buy, the bigger the discount:
āļø Buy 10,000 ā 19,000 points ā 15% off
āļø Buy 20,000 ā 75,000 points ā 20% off
āļø Buy 80,000 ā 95,000 points ā 25% off
āļø Buy 100,000+ points ā 30% off
Is It Worth Buying Aeroplan Points?
If you take full advantage of the 30% discount (which might be difficult), each Aeroplan point costs around 2.45 cents (CAD) before taxes.
We generally value Aeroplan points at 1.5 cents each, but redemptions can go well above 2 cents per point when booking premium flights paired with some strategy. That said, at this price, buying points only makes sense if you need them urgently. If you donāt have a specific redemption in mind, youāre probably better off waiting for a bigger promotionālike a 100% bonus offer, which can drop the cost per point below 2 cents.
The Bottom Line
This up to 30% discount on Aeroplan points is a solid option if you need points right away, but if youāre not in a rush, it might be better to wait for a bigger bonus sale. As always, donāt buy points speculativelyāmake sure you have a specific redemption lined up to maximize value.
