April 2024 Flying Blue Promo Rewards

With the start of a new month, there are new chances to save! Flying Blue, the frequent flyer program of KLM and Air France, introduces a fresh set of promotional reward flights monthly for its members and if you aren’t a member yet, you should consider becoming one. ☝️ These promotional rewards offer discounted award flights on select routes worldwide, providing very good deals!

This month is no exception. Flying Blue's April Promo Rewards offer a 25-50% discount when booking before the month ends, with travel available until September 30, 2024.

Long Haul Rewards

Here are some of the North American Long-Haul KLM Promo Rewards:

Here are the Long-Haul Air France Promo Rewards:

*You can book the Long-haul flight rewards from multiple cities across Europe!

Getting The Most Out Of Your Points

In our previous editions of the rundown, we've discussed how Flying Blue has streamlined its standard award pricing, meaning that regardless of where you are in North America, the minimum price remains consistent when flying to Europe. This is a good thing… at times. 🤔

Here's a breakdown of the standard award pricing for those who are unaware:

  • Economy: Starts at 20,000 miles

  • Premium Economy: Starts at 30,000 miles

  • Business: Starts at 50,000 miles

Now, let's dive into the numbers. If we refer back to the promo rewards charts above, we can see that long-haul KLM flights from Europe to Montreal offer a really good deal for business class which should be starting at 50,000 points but is instead starting as low as 37,500 miles! That’s a steal compared to what you would have had to pay. 🤑

So, if you're planning a trip to Europe this summer, this could be your ticket to a luxurious flight to your dream destination.

Earning Flying Blue Miles

You can earn Air France KLM Flying Blue miles by booking flight tickets with Air France, KLM, SkyTeam partners and using your credit card of course. You can also earn points through the Brim Flying Blue Air France Credit Card on all purchases, as well as transferring Amex points at a 1:0.75 ratio from American Express credit cards if that interests you. Check out some of the best cards at the bottom of the newsletter!

Reminder: Before transferring your points at a potential loss, ensure you maximize their value by exploring alternatives with other airlines or loyalty partners, such as Aeroplan.

Happy planning!

70% Points Buying Promotion With Flying Blue

That’s right! On top of the April Promo Rewards, Flying Blue just announced a new offer for purchasing miles. Let’s get into what this entails and how you can benefit! 😆

Purchase Flying Blue Miles with a 70% Discount

If you are a Flying Blue member or planning on becoming one, you can take advantage of this buying miles promotion and receive up to a 70% bonus on your purchase now until April 25, 2024.

Is This A Good Deal?

No, this is a great deal, and here's why: Purchasing Flying Blue Miles costs 3.05 cents per mile (USD). And if you know anything about purchasing points, this is pretty steep! With this 70% bonus, however, you can effectively grab points for just 1.79 cents per mile (USD) or 2.42 cents per mile (CAD), which is a great deal!✈️

Let’s say you’re eyeing that Amsterdam to Montreal Promo Reward, which is 37,500 points. With this 70% miles buying promo, you would only have to purchase 22,059 miles, which would cost you $672.79 (USD) or $914.16 (CAD)

This way, with the 70% promo, you would also get 15,441 miles on top of your 22,059 miles for a total of 37,500 miles, which you can then use to book that business class flight!

Less than $1,000 dollars for a flight to Europe in a lie-flat business class is a steal! ⭐️

So, if you've been eyeing some miles or have a flight redemption in mind, consider this your time to buy.

Limits and Considerations

  1. Flying Blue members without elite status are restricted to purchasing 100,000 miles per calendar year.

  2. Elite status holders face no limits on the number of miles they can purchase, though the maximum bonus under this promotion is capped at 210,000 miles.

Selecting the Right Payment Method

Buying Flying Blue points won’t count as a travel purchase since it’s sold through Points.com. In order to make the most of this promotion, here are some things to consider:

  1. Use a US credit card with a US billing address to avoid tax charges, preserving the value of your purchase. Click here to learn how to get a US credit card.

  2. If you can’t use a US credit card, consider a credit card that has a good sign-up bonus so this large spend can contribute to your MSRs.
