đ« Up to 60% Bonus When You Buy Avios with Qatar Airways

Qatar Airways is currently running a promotion where you can buy Avios with up to a 60% bonus, a solid deal if youâre trying to top up your balance with Qatar, British Airways, Iberia, or any of the other Avios-linked programs.
Whatâs the Deal?
Depending on how many Avios youâre buying, youâll unlock different bonus tiers. Hereâs how it breaks down:
Buy 3,000 to 15,000 Avios â Get a 30% bonus
Buy 16,000 to 30,000 Avios â Get a 40% bonus
Buy 32,000 or more Avios â Get the full 60% bonus
This promo is running until June 4, and the bonus amount is a bit of a mystery until you log into your Privilege Club accountâso your offer might vary slightly.
Is It Worth It?
Letâs do the math. With the 60% bonus, youâre effectively buying Avios for about 1.44 US cents per point, which converts to roughly 2 cents CAD. For context, Avios are generally valued around 1.5 cents CAD each, so youâre slightly overpaying unless you have a specific, high-value redemption in mind.
And thatâs the key here, if youâre just topping up for a short-haul business class flight, a sweet-spot redemption, or need a few thousand more to unlock a bigger trip, this can absolutely be worth it. But if youâre hoarding points without a plan, itâs probably best to hold off.
Bottom line: If youâve got a redemption in mind or need to top up for a flight youâve been eyeing, buying Avios with a 60% bonus could be a smart move. Just donât let FOMO lead you into buying without a plan.
đ€ Got Air Canada Status? You Might Be Eligible for Elite Perks on Virgin Atlantic

Virgin Atlantic is officially back in Canada, and theyâre not wasting time trying to win over some loyal travellers. Since their return to Toronto with direct flights to London Heathrow, theyâve quietly expanded a pretty attractive offer: a status match for Air Canada Aeroplan Elite members.
Yep, if youâve got status with Air Canada, you can now match it to Virgin Atlanticâs Flying Club and unlock elite perks on your next flight.
âïž How the Status Match Works
To qualify, you need to:
Hold Air Canada Aeroplan status (25K and up)
Book a Virgin Atlantic flight (or a codeshare with a VS flight number)
Apply for the match before you fly
Once approved, your Flying Club status kicks in 72 hours before your flight and lasts for 12 months. That gives you a full year of elite perks with Virgin, just for booking a flight and having status with another airline.
đ How Air Canada Status Maps to Virgin Atlantic
Hereâs how the match works:
Aeroplan 25K or 35K â Flying Club Silver
Aeroplan 50K, 75K, or Super Elite â Flying Club Silver if flying economy, Gold if you fly Premium Economy or Upper Class
So yes, top-tier status with Air Canada can get you top-tier with Virgin but only if youâre flying in a premium cabin.
đ Perks of Virgin Atlantic Flying Club Status
Flying Club Silver:
30% more points on flights
Free seat selection in Economy Light
Priority check-in
Flying Club Gold:
60% more points on flights
Clubhouse lounge access (where available)
Upper Class check-in and priority boarding
Extra baggage allowance
Access to reward seat upgrades
Basically, even if you only match to Silver, youâre still getting solid perks, but Gold is where the experience starts to feel properly elevated.
đ What Youâll Need to Apply
To apply for the match, youâll need:
Proof of your current elite status (screenshot or PDF showing name, tier, and expiry date)
A Virgin Atlantic Flying Club number
A confirmed Virgin Atlantic or VS-coded flight
And a few things to note:
You canât have had a Virgin status match in the last 5 years
You canât hold elite status with any SkyTeam airline
Youâll only get the new status for the specific booking you apply withâif your trip changes, you need to let them know or risk losing the match
Not Just for Air Canada Members
Virginâs status match isnât limited to Aeroplan members either. If youâve got elite status with airlines like American Airlines, British Airways, United, Lufthansa, Cathay Pacific, or others, you can also apply. The same rules apply, book a flight and show proof of status.
Should You Go for It?
If youâve got an Aeroplan elite tier and youâre planning a trip to the UK or anywhere on Virginâs network, this is a no-brainer. Booking a single flight can unlock perks like priority check-in, lounge access, and bonus points, benefits that usually take months of flying to earn.
So before you book your next trip, check your wallet. If that Aeroplan card says 25K or higher, you might be just one Virgin flight away from elite treatment.
