Flair Airlines’ Game-Changing On-Time Guarantee: Here’s What You Need to Know
Flair Airlines, the Canadian low-cost carrier we’ve come to know for its budget-friendly fares, just dropped a major update: Canada’s first-ever On-Time Guarantee (OTG). Yep, flair is officially promising that if they don’t get you to your destination on time, they’ll actually pay you back for it. This is a first in Canada, and honestly, it feels like a pretty big deal.
The “No Excuses” Approach
Flair has always been about making air travel affordable for Canadians, but now they’re taking it a step further with reliability, which has been an issue for them in the past. This new OTG is pretty straightforward. If your Flair flight is delayed by more than 60 minutes or gets cancelled within 72 hours of departure, they’ll hand over a $60 travel voucher. It’s their way of saying, “We value your time and trust—and we’ll prove it.”
Why Is Flair Doing This?
Maciej Wilk, Flair’s interim CEO, said it best: it’s all about accountability. Flair’s putting its money where its mouth is, and they seem ready to go all-in to prove they can deliver on-time, reliable service. Wilk wants Canadians to know that Flair is so confident in its ability to be punctual that they’re willing to take a financial hit if they fall short. It’s a bold move, especially in an industry where delays are just part of the deal.
The Details: How Flair’s OTG Works 👀
Let’s break it down. This isn’t a vague promise—there’s an actual compensation plan in place.
Here’s how it works:
Book Through Flair’s Website: The OTG applies if you book directly through flyflair.com.
$60 Travel Voucher: If your flight is delayed by more than 60 minutes or canceled within 72 hours, you automatically get a $60 travel voucher.
So, it’s pretty simple: if Flair doesn’t get you there on time, they’ll at least give you a little something to make up for it.
Why This Matters ⭐️
You know how frustrating it is when a flight is delayed. Sometimes it’s weather, sometimes it’s operational stuff, but either way, it’s a hassle. Flair is stepping up to say they’re accountable for their schedules, setting a new bar for Canadian airlines. This brings us to the question…
Is This the Future of Canadian Air Travel?
Flair is the only airline in Canada offering this kind of guarantee, but who knows? If passengers respond well, we might see other airlines following suit. The OTG could be the start of a shift toward more customer-friendly policies in Canadian aviation, which would be a win for all of us who spend too much time at airports.
Get Up to 50,000 Points Back on Aeroplan Hotel Bookings
Air Canada Aeroplan is bringing back its popular “points back” promo for hotel bookings, and it’s a great way to maximize the value of your points. Here’s a quick breakdown of how it works and how to make the most of it.
Promotion Details ✅
Earn 10,000 points back when you redeem 60,000 - 149,999 points for hotel stays.
Earn 40,000 points back when you redeem 150,000+ points.
Book select Accor hotels (like Fairmont, Sofitel, Raffles) and receive an additional 10,000 points back, which brings your total rebate up to 50,000 points.
Key Dates 🗓️
Register and book by December 6, 2024, with Stay dates valid through May 31, 2025.
Where It Works 🏨
This promo is available across 300,000+ hotels on Aeroplan, and HotelSavers options (over 7,000 hotels) give you 30% more value per point on average. So, if you’re looking to stretch your points, HotelSavers might be your best choice.
How to Stack with the Fourth-Night-Free Benefit
If you hold an Aeroplan co-brand credit card, you can stack this points-back offer with Aeroplan’s fourth-night-free benefit on stays of 4, 8, or 12 nights. This means you’ll get extra points back and a free night, which is ideal for longer stays.
Is It Worth It? 🤔
Using Aeroplan points on hotels usually isn’t quite as valuable as redeeming for premium flights, but with up to 50,000 points back, this promo adds great value for hotel stays. Whether you’re looking to book a luxury getaway or extend a business trip, this deal can help you save big on points.

Explore the world with oneworld and British Airways Avios
We’ve written a lot in this space about Aeroplan, in large part because it is one of the best airline loyalty programs in the world and is the most accessible one for Canadians.
However, there are plenty of times when having access to another program or two comes in handy.
One of the things that makes Aeroplan so useful is the fact it gives you access to award flights on all of Air Canada’s partner airlines.
Those partners include the other members of the Star Alliance network, but Star Alliance is just one of three major global airline alliances; the other two are oneworld and SkyTeam.
Today, we’re going to take a closer look at oneworld.
One of the best loyalty programs for Canadians to join to access oneworld flights is British Airways Executive Club.
As a member of this program, you collect Avios.
You can earn them by flying with British Airways, of course, but there are several other ways for Canadians to earn Avios, as well.
Both American Express Membership Rewards and RBC Avion points can be transferred to British Airways Avios at a 1:1 ratio. Sometimes there are transfer bonuses available, through which you can get even more Avios when transferring from those programs.
RBC also offers a co-branded British Airways credit card with which you can earn Avios directly through your regular spending.
We’ll leave you with an example of the many ways you can use Avios with partner airlines.
With a quick search, we found a flight next November in economy class on Japan Airlines from Vancouver to Tokyo for 25,750 Avios, plus $324.42 in taxes and fees.
That’s just one of many easy-to-find redemptions through the oneworld Alliance.
