āœˆļø RBC Avion Points Now Go 30% Further with Avios

If you’ve been collecting RBC Avion points and waiting for the right time to use them, here is your opportunity. RBC is currently offering a 30% bonus when you transfer your Avion points to British Airways Avios. This means for every 10,000 Avion points, you will receive 13,000 Avios.

This transfer bonus is available until July 11, 2025. After that, the standard 1:1 conversion returns.

Why This Matters

Avios is the points currency used by British Airways, but it is also accepted by several other airlines through the oneworld alliance. This makes them quite flexible for travelers based in Canada or planning international trips. āœˆļø

With this 30% bonus, your RBC points can unlock more value, whether you are booking long-haul business class or a short domestic flight.

Examples of What You Can Book

Here are some redemption opportunities that become even more attractive with the 30% bonus:

  • A flight from Toronto or Montreal to Doha in Qatar Airways Qsuites usually costs 70,000 Avios. With the bonus, you only need to transfer around 53,847 Avion points. šŸ¤‘

  • A flight to the Maldives in business class with Qatar Airways would require 85,000 Avios, which now translates to 65,385 Avion points.

These are just a few examples. Avios can also be moved between programs like Iberia and Qatar Airways, opening up even more booking options.

How the Transfer Works

When you log into your RBC Avion Rewards account and initiate the transfer, you will still see the standard 1:1 rate. However, as long as you complete the transfer by July 11, the bonus will automatically apply and reflect in your Avios account.āœ…

The minimum transfer amount is 10,000 points. After that, you can transfer in increments of just one point.

Not Enough Avion Points Yet?

RBC currently has promotional offers on its Avion credit cards. These include welcome bonuses ranging from 35,000 to 70,000 points, depending on the card. If you apply and are approved, you could qualify for enough points to book a free or discounted flight using the 30% bonus.

For example, 35,000 points becomes 45,500 Avios during the promotion. That is enough for a round-trip economy flight in many cases.

Final Thoughts

The 30% transfer bonus from RBC to British Airways Avios is a valuable opportunity for anyone looking to travel using points.

If you have Avion points, consider whether this transfer can help you book a trip for less. If you do not yet have enough, you may still be able to take advantage of this offer by earning a welcome bonus from one of the RBC Avion credit cards.

šŸ¤‘ Aeroplan 30% Off Promo. Should You Buy?

āœˆļø Aeroplan 30% Off Promo. Should You Buy?

Aeroplan is running a limited-time offer where you can get up to 30% off when buying points. If you’ve been eyeing a reward flight and just need a little top-up, this might be worth a look. This is a targeted offer so sign in to see if you got it!

The offer runs until July 3, 2025, and here’s how the discount breaks down:

  • Buy 10,000 to 19,000 points and get 15% off

  • Buy 20,000 to 75,000 points and get 30% off

  • Buy 80,000 to 95,000 points and get 25% off

  • Buy 100,000 points or more and get 30% off

What Are You Really Paying Per Point?

With the full 30% discount, the cost per point comes down to around 2.63 cents before tax. After adding tax, most Canadians will be paying about 2.76 cents per point or more, depending on where they live.

That’s on the higher end for buying points, especially if you are not getting outsized value from your redemptions.

So… Is It Worth It?

It depends on what you plan to do with the points.

If you are getting more than 3 cents in value per point, this deal can actually save you money compared to paying cash for the flight. Think business class flights to Europe or Asia during peak seasons. In those cases, buying points could lead to serious savings.

But if you’re redeeming for domestic economy or hotel stays, the math usually doesn’t work out in your favor.

What We Recommend

Only consider buying points through this promo if:

  1. You already have a redemption in mind

  2. You know the value you are getting per point

  3. You are topping up your balance to make a booking happen

Otherwise, it is probably better to wait. In the past, Aeroplan has offered much better deals, including 100% bonuses which make points significantly cheaper.

Bottom Line

This promotion is okay, but it is not the most exciting offer we’ve seen from Aeroplan. If you are planning to book something soon and can get strong value, go for it. If not, sit tight and wait for a better deal.

Let me know if you need help running the numbers or figuring out whether a flight is worth booking with points. I’m happy to help you squeeze the most out of your rewards.

Check out these awesome deals you definitely don't want to miss if you're thinking about travelling in the next few months!
