3 Months Fee-Free When You Get These Cards
We are super excited to announce our partnership with Scotiabank. If you have long been eyeing Chexy or are already using the platform with a different card, there hasn’t been a better time to sign up than today. From now until June 30, if you apply and get approved for either the Scotia Momentum Visa Infinite or the Scotia Passport Cards, on top of getting the annual fee waived for the first year, you will also get 3 months of Chexy fees waived.
And although we’ve written a whole blog article on this that you can read at your leisure, I will give you my unbiased take on this offer:
The Scotiabank Momentum Visa Infinite card is by far the best card to pay rent in the country if it’s cashback you are after.
This current offer is a no-brainer to get the card and try Chexy given the no annual fee and no Chexy fees for the first 3 months.
Using a $2,000 rent as an example, in the first year you would earn a whopping $765 (net of any fees) just by getting the card through Chexy and paying rent for 12 months.
The Scotiabank Passport Visa Infinite is one of the best cards in the market for a travel enthusiast, given no FX charges when you travel and six free airport lounge visits.
The current sign up bonus offer of 40,000 Scene points is hard to hit in full as it requires a $40,000 annual spend on the card. However, putting a year of rent on that card (and only paying for 9 months of fees given the promo), makes it a really easy task and would earn you $840 value in the first year.
If you are new to the travel points scene (no pun intended) or just value simplicity, scene points are one of the best in the market as the redemption is straightforward at 1c per point against any travel related expenses on your statement.
This is also a compelling card for those eyeing the Hyatt points purchase (see below on why).
Apply through your dashboard (must be logged into your Chexy account to apply the promo).
Aeroplan Announces Changes to eUpgrade Expiration
Aeroplan has announced changes to the expiration policy for eUpgrades credits, effective July 1, 2024. These changes will impact Aeroplan Members with Elite status and Aeroplan Premium credit cardholders, so if you’re one of these status members, keep on reading.
Starting July 1, 2024, all eUpgrades credits will be valid for 12 months from the date of issue. Previously, credits earned between January 1 and June 30 expired in mid-January of the following year, while credits earned after July 1 had a longer expiration period. Now, all credits will expire exactly 12 months from when you get them, making it a lot easier to keep track of. ✅
Benefits for Premium Credit Card Holders
From July 1, 2024, primary Aeroplan Premium credit cardholders can extend the expiration of their eUpgrades credits by an additional 12 months, making them valid for 24 months. This applies to cards like the TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite Privilege and the American Express Aeroplan Reserve Card. Additionally, the cap of extending up to 50 credits will be removed.
Notes to Consider
These changes do not apply to eUpgrades credits earned before July 1, 2024. Any and all unused credits earned up to June 30, 2024, will be carried forward to 2025 (up to 50 credits) and will be valid until January 15, 2026.
Get a 20% Bonus When You Buy World of Hyatt Points
That’s right! For a limited time, you can get a 20% bonus when you purchase World of Hyatt points. This is a great opportunity to top up your account and get more value for your money. Here’s what you need to know about this promotion and whether it’s worth the hassle.
Current World of Hyatt Points Promotion
From now until July 1, 2024, you can earn a 20% bonus on purchases of at least 3,000 Hyatt points. 😎
How It Works
To qualify for the bonus, you need to be a World of Hyatt member for at least 60 days (boo, throwing tomatoes). If you’re not a member yet, sign up now to be eligible in the future.
Annual Purchase Limit: You can buy up to 55,000 points per account each year.
Minimum Purchase: You must buy at least 3,000 points to get the bonus.
Plus, tax will also be applied due to our countries lovely tax system *cries internally*.
Best Way to Buy Points
It's best to use a card that doesn’t charge you any FX fees, like the Scotiabank Passport Visa Infinite Card (see promo above 💰️ ) or the Scotiabank Gold American Express Card, which will save 2.5% on fees.
Is It Worth Buying Hyatt Points?
Whether it’s worth buying Hyatt points depends on your specific needs and travel plans. Unlike Marriott Bonvoy points, there aren’t many credit cards in Canada that earn World of Hyatt points directly.
Speaking of points, let's get into the value! World of Hyatt points are typically valued at about 1.7 US cents each (or 2.3 Canadian cents). However, as always - you can get significantly more value from those if booking some aspirational stays in the Hyatt family. 😆
Note: You won’t pay taxes or service charges on point bookings
