Great news for Aeroplan Elite members! As of today, you can now transfer your Aeroplan points to Marriott Bonvoy points on a 1:1 basis. ✅

How to Transfer Aeroplan Points to Marriott Bonvoy

The process is pretty straightforward:

• Elite members can transfer their points at a 1:1 rate (1 Aeroplan point = 1 Marriott Bonvoy point).

• You’ll need at least 500 Aeroplan points to start a transfer.

• You can move up to 100,000 points per day.

It’s an easy way to unlock some extra value if you’re eyeing a Marriott stay, which if you’ve been reading our newsletters, you know can be very costly. 

Is It Worth Converting Aeroplan Points to Marriott Bonvoy?

Now, here’s the big question—should you actually make the transfer? 

In most cases, the answer is probably no. 👀 Why? The simple reason is that Aeroplan points generally carry more value than Marriott Bonvoy points. As a reminder, an Aeroplan point is typically worth 2.1 cents, whereas a Marriot Bonvoy point is worth 0.8 cents.

There are, however, plenty of other ways to get great value from Marriott Bonvoy points, especially when booking high-end hotel stays or experiences through Marriott Bonvoy Moments.

Another possibility is using this transfer option to funnel points into Marriott’s other airline partners. You could, for example, convert your Aeroplan points to Marriott and then from Marriott to British Airways or ANA, among others.

While this is not the best option in terms of point value, it might be a creative workaround to get you closer to that dream award flight. ✈️

Final Thoughts

Aeroplan’s new transfer option with Marriott Bonvoy adds another layer of flexibility, though it may not be the go-to option for most members. If you have more Aeroplan points than you know what to do with, or you need to complete a Marriott redemption, this could be a handy tool in your travel rewards arsenal.

Aeroplan’s New Promotion: Earn Up to 50,000 Points Back on Hotel Stays

In other great news for Aeroplan members! Air Canada has brought back its popular “points back” promotion for hotel bookings made with Aeroplan points. This time, you can receive up to 50,000 Aeroplan points back when you book eligible hotel stays. 🚨

With the points rebate offer running until the end of September, this is a great opportunity to get more value from your Aeroplan points.

What’s the Offer?

For a limited time, Aeroplan members can earn points back when they redeem at least 40,000 points on hotel stays. 

Here’s the breakdown of the rebate tiers:

• Redeem 40,000 – 79,999 points: Get 10,000 points back

• Redeem 80,000 – 149,999 points: Get 25,000 points back

• Redeem 150,000+ points: Get 50,000 points back

This offer is valid for bookings made through Air Canada’s platform and applies to over 300,000 hotels worldwide. Even better, it includes HotelSaver options, which typically give Aeroplan members up to 30% more value per point for their stays.

Plus, if you’re an Aeroplan Elite member, you’ll get an additional 2,500 points back on top of the rebate when you redeem 40,000 or more points. ⏩

How to Take Advantage of the Offer

To participate, you must register for the promotion and make your bookings by September 30, 2024. Stays can be completed up until February 28, 2025, so there’s plenty of time to plan your trips.

Here’s how it works:

1. Register for the promotion – You must register by the deadline to qualify for the rebate.

2. Book eligible hotel stays – As long as you redeem at least 40,000 Aeroplan points, you’re eligible for a rebate.

3. Receive your points back – Your points will be credited back to your account after your stay is complete, with no limits on how many stays you can book during the promotion period.

Maximize Your Savings with Aeroplan’s 4th Night Free Benefit

If you’re an Aeroplan co-branded credit card holder, you can combine this promotion with the 4th-night free benefit. This perk allows you to redeem points for stays of 4, 8, or 12 nights (and beyond) and get every fourth night free. Stacking these two offers can help you stretch your points even further! 😆
