✈️ Aeroplan’s New Reward Chart Is Here — What’s Changed and Why It Matters

Aeroplan has refreshed its flight reward chart, and if you collect Aeroplan points, there are a few key updates to know. The changes focus on how partners are grouped, how flights are priced, and how that pricing is displayed, making the program more transparent and easier to navigate for travelers. ✈️

🧭 A New Two-Tier Partner System

The biggest shift is the introduction of a two-tier chart: one for Air Canada and Select Partners, and another for All Other Partners. This helps clarify pricing as Aeroplan’s partner network continues to grow, giving you more insight into how points redemptions are structured.

Some airlines, like United, Etihad, Calm Air, PAL Airlines, and Canadian North—have moved to dynamic pricing, meaning the number of points needed can vary based on demand and timing. While this introduces some flexibility (and potentially more award availability), it’s smart to keep an eye out for good deals, especially during off-peak travel.

💡 Better Pricing Transparency

Aeroplan has also made pricing more transparent. You’ll now see “Starting at” point values along with a median estimate, making it easier to understand what a typical redemption might cost and when you’re getting strong value.

Etihad Airways is back for business class redemptions, which is a win for premium travel fans. Even under dynamic pricing, it opens up exciting options to the Middle East and beyond—especially if you book early or travel off-season. 🛫

🇨🇦 Regional Changes + What’s Staying the Same

For those flying within Canada, Aeroplan has also updated its pricing structure for regional partners like Calm Air and PAL, providing a more consistent experience when traveling to remote areas.

What hasn’t changed? The pricing for “All Other Partners” like Lufthansa, ANA, and Turkish Airlines remains the same, which is great news if you’re a fan of international redemptions with fixed rates.

All in all, Aeroplan’s update brings more clarity, flexibility, and partner-specific organization to the program. For anyone who’s willing to be a little strategic, there’s still plenty of value to unlock. 🌍

British Airways Executive Club is one of the most easily accessible loyalty programs to Canadians through credit card rewards.

That’s because you can transfer points from RBC Avion Rewards or American Express Membership Rewards at a 1:1 ratio, or earn them directly with the RBC British Airways Visa Infinite.

Once the points arrive in your Executive Club account, they become British Airways Avios.

What makes Avios such a powerful points currency is that it’s also used by other airline loyalty programs, including Aer Lingus AerClub, Finnair Plus, Iberia Plus, and Qatar Airways Privilege Club.

Therefore, while we don’t have direct access to the four other programs that use Avios as a currency, we do have indirect access to them by way of British Airways Executive Club.

And this is where it gets interesting, since you can instantly convert your Avios into different “flavours” of Avios online and at a 1:1 ratio.

Each loyalty program has its own set of sweet spots, and it’s in your best interest to take the extra step of moving your Avios around to leverage them.

Aer Lingus AerClub is best used for booking flights with Aer Lingus. While the cost in Avios is similar to what you’ll pay in other programs, the taxes and fees are less.

British Airways Executive Club is best used to book short-haul flights within Europe, Asia, and Australia at very reasonable prices with oneworld airlines, both in economy and business class.

British Airways also guarantees a minimum number of award seats on every single flight, which makes it one of the most predictable ways to get to or from London.

Finnair Plus is the newest member of the Avios family, and it offers excellent prices for flights from Europe to North America or Asia.

Iberia Plus is home to two of the best sweet spots in the Miles & Points world: 34,000 Avios for Iberia business class between Spain and Boston, New York, or Chicago, or 42,500 Avios for a flight between Spain and Miami, Dallas, Los Angeles, or San Francisco.

Qatar Airways Privilege Club has some of the most compelling uses of Avios for anyone with their eyes on the world’s best business class: Qatar Airways Qsuites.
