ā Chexy is Now Accepting Bill Pay
Itās been a long time coming, but Chexy now supports Bill Pay! š°
When we first launched, we only accepted e-Transfers. Then came Pre-Authorized Debit (PAD). And now, with Bill Pay, any tenant in Canada can use Chexy to pay rent and bills with a credit cardāunlocking rewards.
This means more flexibility, more rewards, and a smarter way to handle your biggest expenses.
How to Set Up Bill Pay with Chexy
Log In & Search for Your Landlord ā Select Bill Pay as your payment method and start typing their name. Weāll pull up matching payees, just like a banking app.
Enter Your Account Number ā Use the number provided by your landlord to link your payment.
Pay Rent & Earn Rewards ā Use your credit card to pay rent, earn points or cashback, and turn your largest expense into an opportunity.
And donāt forgetārefer friends to get $15 and give $15, plus unlock referral tiers to lower your Chexy fee and take home even more rewards. š¤
Marriott Bonvoyās 45% Points BonusāIs It Worth It? š
Marriott Bonvoy is back with a points bonus of up to 45%, and while itās not the highest weāve ever seen, itās still a solid deal for the right person. If youāve got your eye on a redemption that stretches your points further, this might be the perfect time to top up. If not? Maybe sit this one out.
š¢ The Bonus Breakdown
Hereās how the deal works:
Buy 2,000 ā 9,000 points ā 35% bonus
Buy 10,000 ā 39,000 points ā 40% bonus
Buy 40,000+ points ā 45% bonus
This offer runs until March 30, 2025, and at the highest bonus level, youāre snagging points for 0.86 cents USD each (or 1.3ā1.6 cents CAD, depending on taxes in your province).
š° Should You Actually Buy?
Weāve talked about this before but buying points only makes sense if youāre getting more value than what you paid. We generally value Marriott Bonvoy points at around 1 cent CAD per point, but in the right situation, they can be worth double or even triple that.
Take the JW Marriott Parq Vancouver, for instance. A standard night can go for $600+ CAD, but if you redeem points, you could be getting 2.5 cents per point in value. If you buy points during this promo, youāre essentially cutting your stay cost nearly in half.
With the 45% bonus, youād only need to buy 16,552 base points (since the bonus brings you up to 24,000 total). At the 0.86 cents USD per point rate, that purchase would cost you about $192 CADāmeaning youāre getting a $600 hotel night for under $200.
š Buying Points
Marriott runs these point purchases through Points.com, so they wonāt count as a travel purchase on your credit card. That means no bonus multipliers if youāre using a travel card. Your best bet? A card with a high everyday earn rate, like the Marriott Bonvoy American Express Card or a solid cashback card to get something back.
Final Verdict?
If youāve got a redemption lined up where points get you at least 1.5ā2 cents in value, this bonus can be a smart play. Otherwise? Sit tightāMarriott runs these deals a few times a year, and a 50% bonus could be just around the corner.
