🌴 Air Canada Expands Flights to Latin America This Winter

In case their biggest-ever Latin America expansion back in May wasn’t enough, Air Canada just announced a new batch of routes for winter 2025–26. The airline is resuming service to Peru, adding some sunny spots in Mexico, and even launching a new flight to Belize.

✈️ The New Routes

Starting December 6th, 2025, you’ll be able to fly to:

  • 🇵🇪 Lima, Peru from both Montreal and Toronto

  • 🇲🇽 Puerto Escondido direct from Toronto (the first Canadian airline to do so)

  • 🇲🇽 Tepic, Riviera Nayarit from Vancouver

  • 🇧🇿 Belize City from Montreal

Most of these flights run December through April, with weekly or semi-weekly service. As there aren’t many flights, book early to get a good seat.

More Routes = More Reward Availability

If you’re booking these flights with points, Aeroplan’s dynamic pricing can make popular routes quite expensive. New service means a better shot at snagging deals, especially if you have preferred pricing with an Aeroplan credit card.

Plus, fewer layovers and expanded departure options from Montreal, Toronto, and Vancouver make it easier for you to escape the cold winter. 🫡

💰How to Earn Aeroplan Points for These Flights

To get the most value when booking, use an Aeroplan credit card, especially while signup bonuses are this high.

Right now, Amex, TD, and CIBC’s premium Aeroplan cards are offering some of their biggest welcome offers ever. For example, the Amex Aeroplan Reserve can net you up to 130,000 points if you hit the spending thresholds ($7,500 in 3 months, $45,000 in a year). Flights are a smart way to chip away at that.

Here’s what each card earns on Air Canada purchases:

Let’s say you book a ~$650 round-trip flight to Puerto Escondido with the Amex Aeroplan Reserve. You’d earn:

  • 1,950 points from the credit card

  • ~1,500–2,000 points from the flight (depending on fare class)

That’s 3,400–4,000+ Aeroplan points just for booking a vacation.

💡Pro tip: If you use one of these cards to pay rent or bills through Chexy, you can earn even more points on everyday spending before you even start packing.

How Many Points You’ll Need to Redeem

Thanks to dynamic pricing, there’s no fixed number, but here are ballpark round-trip estimates for economy class:

  • Toronto to Lima: ~38,000–60,000 points

  • Montreal to Belize: ~13,000–50,000 points

At only 13.4k points, this redemption is a steal.

These are median ranges, so prices can go higher (or lower) depending on seasonality and demand.

Don’t have enough points? You can top up your Aeroplan balance with Amex Membership Rewards points (1:1).

Final Thoughts

Air Canada is quickly becoming the go-to airline for Latin America travel from Canada. If a winter escape is on your mind, now’s the time to start stacking points. These seasonal routes have limited availability, so book early before they fill up.

🍰 Bakery Spotlight: Daan Go Cake Lab - Where Art Meets Dessert

Meet Daan Go, a local bakery that proves passion > plan. Founded by Christopher Siu, a MasterChef Canada winner who swapped a pharmacy degree for pastry, the bakery is famous for desserts that are both whimsical and wildly delicious.

The name “Daan Go” means “cake” in Cantonese - a nod to Christopher’s roots and the bakery’s mission: bringing joy through dessert.

Some of their standout hits:

  • Specialty macarons in rotating, seasonal flavours like mango sticky rice, Vietnamese coffee, and black sesame

  • Signature cakes like the Gold Thorn, vanilla chiffon layered with fresh durian purée, cheese cream, and durian mousse, shaped like a realistic durian

  • Customizable designer cakes for all occasions

Whether you’re celebrating with friends and family or just treating yourself, you’ll find desserts of every size, shape, and flavour.

This successful bakery is a reminder that following your passion can lead to something seriously sweet.

Follow Daan Go on Instagram or visit one of their multiple locations across Toronto and Vancouver.

👩‍🍳 Are you a small business owner?

We know running a business isn’t always easy. But Chexy can help make the numbers a little sweeter.

Like Daan Go, if you’re a business owner, you can use Chexy to pay rent, bills, or even taxes, and earn cashback or rewards points in the process.

A Hot Transatlantic Deal with Flying Blue

Each month, Air France and KLM’s Flying Blue program rolls out Promo Rewards, which offers discounted award flights that can help you stretch your points further across Europe and beyond.

For this month, you can book economy class flights between Toronto and Europe for just 18,750 Flying Blue miles one-way — a 25% discount from the standard 25,000-mile price.

That’s an incredible value for crossing the Atlantic, especially during peak summer travel season. And with taxes and fees that tend to be more reasonable than many other frequent flyer programs, this could be your sign to book that European adventure.

For example, you can fly from Toronto (YYZ) to Paris (CDG) on Air France for 18,750 Flying Blue miles and $167.62 (CAD) in taxes and fees.

While this isn’t an aspirational Business or First Class flight, cash prices on this route often exceed $1,800 one-way, making it a fantastic redemption for economy travellers looking to save big during the high season.

And here’s a bonus: if you have the RIGHT credit card, you’ll enjoy lounge access at the Air France KLM Lounge in Terminal 3 at Toronto Pearson Airport before your flight.

Travel is valid through December 31, 2025, but you’ll need to book by July 31.

In Canada, you can earn Flying Blue miles directly with the Air France KLM World Elite Mastercard®, or by transferring from Amex Membership Rewards and Marriott Bonvoy.

And with record-high welcome bonuses currently available on select American Express cards, now might be the perfect time to top up your account and take full advantage of Flying Blue Promo Rewards.

Check out these awesome deals you definitely don't want to miss if you're thinking about travelling in the next few months!
