✈️ Buy KLM Flying Blue Miles at a 45% Discount

Air France KLM is currently offering a new promotion: get up to 45% off when you buy Flying Blue Miles between now and September 17th, 2025. This offer sounds tempting, but should you go for it? Let’s break it down.

What’s The Deal?

Here’s how the discount breaks down:

  • Buy 4,000 to 10,000 Miles → 35% off

  • Buy 12,000 to 22,000 Miles → 40% off

  • Buy 24,000+ Miles → 45% off

Without a promo, Flying Blue Miles cost about 3.05¢ USD each, which is way over the normal valuation of 1.5¢ USD or 2¢ CAD per Mile.

With this deal, your cost drops to 1.68¢ USD (2.31¢ CAD) per mile, plus GST/HST.

🤔 Is It Worth Buying Now?

Buying Miles isn’t always worth your while. In fact, most of the time you’re better off saving your cash and just earning miles through credit cards. But there are two situations where this discount can be useful:

  1. Topping up for a specific flight: If you’re short a few thousand Miles to lock in a redemption, this can be a good way to fill the gap.

  2. Booking Promo Rewards: Flying Blue has monthly Promo Rewards, which are discounted award flights between North America and Europe. Buying points during this sale and booking a discounted flight can totally make sense.

For example, a one-way business class flight from Montreal to Europe during a Promo Rewards period could cost 45,000 Miles.

Buying those points under the current promo would run you about $1,042 CAD. Even with taxes and fees, you’re paying far below the cash fare.

Here’s a business class flight from Montreal to Paris, which costs 4,825 Euro ($7,745 CAD). By combining this points-buying promo with the Promo Rewards flights, you’re saving over $6,000 CAD. 🤯

Why Value Matters

Here’s the key: at this discounted rate, you need to redeem at 2.5–2.75¢ CAD per mile just to break even. If you can find flights that give you 3–4¢ or more per mile in value (think business class seats that normally retail for $4,000+), then buying can be a smart move. If not, you’re basically prepaying for travel at a so-so exchange rate.

Some things to keep in mind:

  • Miles purchases are non-refundable, so always confirm award space before you buy.

  • Flying Blue uses dynamic pricing, so those low mileage rates aren’t guaranteed every day or on every route.

  • This isn’t Flying Blue’s best offer; they’ve previously run 100% bonuses, which is essentially double the value.

💭 Final Thoughts

If you already have a trip in mind and see award availability, this 45% discount could be worth it, especially for business class redemptions to Europe. But if you’re just stockpiling points for later, skip it.

A safer long-term play is collecting transferable points like Amex Membership Rewards. You can convert them into Flying Blue Miles at a 1,000:750 ratio whenever a good deal pops up, without locking your cash into a not-so-great deal.

If you decide to go for this deal, you have until September 17th, 2025, to lock it in.

💰 Aeroplan’s Latest Points Sale: Up to 85% Bonus

Aeroplan is back with another points buying sale, offering up to an 85% bonus when you purchase points before September 10th, 2025. The exact offer varies by member, but if you’re eyeing a business class flight redemption, this can be worth checking out.

What’s the Deal?

Normally, Aeroplan sells points for 3.75¢ CAD each. With the top-tier 85% bonus, your cost per point drops to about 2.03¢ CAD. That’s just under the rough valuation of Aeroplan points at ~2.1¢ CAD, which makes this one of their stronger promos.

Here’s how the bonus works:

  • Buy 4,000 to 29,000 points → 40% bonus

  • Buy 30,000 to 60,000 points → 60% bonus

  • Buy 70,000+ points → 85% bonus

You can buy a lot of points during this sale. The usual 250k-per-transaction cap is doubled for this sale (500k), and each member can buy up to 1,000,000 points per year.

💵 When It Makes Sense to Buy

The value depends heavily on how you redeem.

  • Fixed-price partner rewards: This is where it makes the most sense. Aeroplan’s partner chart (for airlines like Lufthansa, ANA, or Singapore) uses distance-based fixed pricing, so you can easily get 3–5¢ per point in value on long-haul premium cabins. Buying at 2.03¢ and redeeming at 4¢ is essentially doubling your money.

  • Dynamic Air Canada pricing: Much riskier, as points costs for Air Canada flights can vary with cash fares, so buying points rarely beats just paying cash.

For example, you can sometimes find a one-way business class flight from Toronto to Copenhagen for 70,000 Aeroplan points.

Buying those points under the current promo at 2.03¢ each would cost you about $1,421 CAD, plus a couple hundred in surcharges. All-in, you’re looking at around $1,600 CAD for a lie-flat transatlantic flight that otherwise costs $6,000 to $9,000 in cash.

If you don’t have a redemption in mind, buying points speculatively is risky. You’re locking in cash at 2.03¢ per point, hoping you’ll get more out of it later.

The Bottom Line

This is one of Aeroplan’s stronger promos, but it’s not for casual flyers. If you mostly book Air Canada economy class tickets, skip it. But if you’re hunting for lie-flat seats to Europe or Asia on partner airlines, this could save you thousands compared to cash fares.

You have just over a week to buy these points, as this sale ends September 10th, 2025.

Cathay Pacific First Class: A Taste of True Luxury

Cathay Pacific has long been considered one of the world’s premier airlines, and its First Class cabin is a bucket-list experience for many travellers.

From caviar and Michelin-inspired dining in the air to private cabanas at The Wing lounge in Hong Kong, every part of the journey is designed to feel special

One of the easiest ways to sample Cathay Pacific First Class is on a short hop between Hong Kong (HKG) and Tokyo (HND) for just 50,000 Asia Miles one-way, or 43,000 Asia Miles to Beijing (PEK). It’s one of the most accessible First Class redemptions on the market.

The cabin itself is intimate, with only six suites arranged in a 1-1-1 layout. Each seat is wide, private, and can be converted into a plush lie-flat bed with high-thread-count bedding by Bamford.

Onboard dining includes Champagne, caviar, and Hong Kong classics crafted in partnership with Michelin-starred restaurant Duddell’s.

There’s even room for a companion to join you for a meal at your suite.

The easiest way to earn Asia Miles is by transferring from RBC Avion points at 1:1 ratio or from Amex Membership Rewards at 1:0.75. Transfer bonuses of 10–15% appear from time to time, making it even easier to top up.

Award availability can be limited, especially on Tokyo flights, but Cathay’s calendar view helps spot open dates quickly.

If you’re flexible, the chance to experience First Class service on a short regional route is an excellent way to unlock one of the world’s top aviation experiences without burning a mountain of miles.

Check out these awesome deals you definitely don't want to miss if you're thinking about travelling in the next few months!
