Air Canadaâs Up to 100% Bonus on Aeroplan Points âď¸đĽ âď¸
Love scoring a good travel deal? Air Canada Aeroplanâs latest promotion might be your chance to stretch your travel budget. Until January 14, 2025, Aeroplan members can grab up to a 100% bonus when buying points. Letâs break this down and see if itâs actually worth it.
Whatâs the Deal? đĄ
Hereâs how the bonus tiers work:
Buy 5,000 â 25,000 points = 55% bonus
Buy 30,000 â 70,000 points = 75% bonus
Buy 70,000 â 500,000 points = 100% bonus
Should You Buy Points? đ¤
Short answer: sometimes. When you hit the 100% bonus, each point costs about 1.75 cents CAD before taxes.
Now, letâs talk value. Aeroplan points are worth at least 1.5 cents each, so this deal isnât always a guaranteed win. But if youâre smart about how you use themâthink premium cabin flights or peak-season redemptionsâyou can get values over 2 cents per point. Thatâs where things get interesting.
For example, letâs say you find a round-trip business class ticket to Europe for 80,000 Aeroplan points. Normally, that ticket costs $4,000, but if you buy points during this promo at 1.75 cents each, youâll pay $1,400 instead. Thatâs a massive saving for a luxury experience.
When Itâs Worth It đź
This deal is worth it if youâve got a specific flight in mind and know youâll get high value for your points. Itâs also great if you need to top up your balance for an upcoming trip. But if youâre thinking about buying points âjust in case,â donât. Tying up your money in points without a clear plan isnât the smartest move.
Pro Tips to Maximize Value đ
Always think about Cents Per Point (CPP) to ensure youâre getting the most bang for your buck. Look for Aeroplan sweet spots, like flights from North America to Europe or Asia in business class. Find and book award flights that are the minimum or below the minimum required points to get the best value.
Note: Donât forget to combine your points with other promosâlike credit card offers or Aeroplanâs hotel and car rental partnersâto stack your savings.
Is It Worth It? đŻ
This up to 100% bonus is one of Aeroplanâs better offers, but if you recall, they did have a 120% bonus in 2024.
If youâve got a solid travel plan and know how to maximize your points, itâs a great deal. But if youâre just speculating, save your money and wait for the next sale.
Log in to your Aeroplan account and start planning your next adventure.
UK ETA: What You Need to Know for 2025 Travel đâď¸

Planning a trip to the UK in 2025? Starting January 8, 2025, you will need an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA). This quick digital step aims to streamline travel and tighten border security, but itâs something youâll need to sort out before your trip. A little extra hassle never hurt anybody, right?
The ETA is mandatory for short visits of up to six months, whether for tourism, business, or even just a transit through UK airports. Each traveller, including kids and infants, needs one. 1ď¸âŁ
How It Affects Layovers
Even if youâre not leaving the airport, youâll need an ETA to transit through the UK. For example, flying from Toronto to Frankfurt with a layover in London? Youâll be asked for your ETA at check-in in Toronto. Without it, you wonât board your flight. âď¸
Applying Is Simple đ
Applications opened November 27, 2024, and itâs fully online. Use the official UK government website or mobile app (the app is better since youâll need a camera).
All you need to do is upload a clear photo of yourself and your passport. The fee is ÂŁ10, and approval usually takes less than three working days.
Validity and Cost
Once approved, the ETA is valid for two years or until your passport expires, whichever comes first. During this time, you can enter the UK as often as you like. If you renew your passport, youâll need to reapply. âď¸
