New Welcome Bonus for the TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite Card: 50,000 Aeroplan Points

That’s right! The TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite Card now offers an enhanced bonus of up to 50,000 Aeroplan points and a waived annual fee for the first year. If you’ve been looking for a new credit card or have been eyeing this one, this is your chance to grab it and the points. 🤑

Here’s the Breakdown of the 50,000 Welcome Bonus

  1. First Purchase Bonus (10,000 points): You’ll get 10,000 Aeroplan points as soon as you make any purchase—easy!

  2. Spend $7,500 in 6 Months (15,000 points): Earn an additional 15,000 points by spending $7,500 on the card in the first 180 days—easy!

  3. Spend $12,000 in a Year (25,000 points): If you spend a total of $12,000 within 12 months, you’ll snag the final 25,000 points as an anniversary bonus.

Let’s break down how quickly you could hit these milestones using Chexy to pay rent. 🤝

Real-Life Example: Reaching the Bonus with Chexy

Let’s say you’re paying $2,000 in rent each month (the national average) with Chexy and charging it to your new TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite Card. Here’s how fast you could reach that 50,000-point sign-up bonus:

  • First Month: You pay $2,000 in rent +  a small purchase of your favorite coffee. You’ll instantly get 10,000 points.

  • Second - Fourth Month: By paying your $2,000 rent every month for 4 months, you’ll spend $8,000. This means you’ll hit the $7,500 spending target within 4 months, unlocking an additional 15,000 points.

Continue paying your rent for 6 months, and you’ll spend a total of $12,000, qualifying for the 25,000-point anniversary bonus.

In just 6 months, you’ll have paid your rent and hit all the spending requirements, netting yourself the full 50,000 points bonus!

So, What Can I Do With 50,000 Aeroplan Points?

To start, at a minimum, 50,000 Aeroplan points are worth about $750 (valued at 1.5 cents per point). Now, if you’re strategic and read the Chexy Rundown, you could get even more value (up to 2.1 cents), especially when redeeming for premium flights like business or first class on Air Canada.

With most business class seats starting at 70,000 (on a good day), here’s an example of a regular economy class ticket, just to show you how you can make use of your new 50,000 points.

The flight below is from Toronto to Paris for only 27,700 points + surcharges, which is a great deal considering, these should start at 35,000 Aeroplan points. When valuing each Aeroplan point at 2.1 cents, this is only $554 for your flight to Europe, which your rent helped pay for! Plus, you can use your left over points for your flight back or another flight later on.

Extra Perks for Those Who Travel

As a bonus, this card comes with perks that travelers will love:

  • Free checked bags on Air Canada flights.

  • Travel insurance, including mobile device coverage and trip cancellation insurance.

  • Access to Aeroplan’s Preferred Pricing for flight redemptions.

With these added benefits, you’re not only earning points but also enjoying savings and protection when you fly.

Wrapping Up: Pay Rent, Earn Big

2 tools to help you go the distance with Aeroplan rewards

The Aeroplan Flight Reward Chart is a great tool for knowing exactly how many points you need for flights on Air Canada’s partner airlines.

The chart breaks down flights into four geographic zones, and within those zones, it further breaks them down by distance.

This begs the question: how do you know the distance between two airports?

There are two useful tools to help you figure this out.

One is a tool you probably use regularly already: Google Maps.

You can use either the PC browser version or the mobile app, but it’s easier on a PC.

As an example, to find the distance from Vancouver International Airport to Incheon International Airport in Seoul, first, right-click on YVR and select “Measure distance”.

Next, navigate to Incheon and click to add your second point. The distance, about 5,100 miles, will then display on your screen.

That’s at the lower end of the 5,001 to 7,500 miles tier for flights between the North American and Pacific zones on the reward chart.

If you want to see just how far you could go before bumping up to the next distance tier, simply click and drag the dot you placed on Incheon to see distances to various places.

You could, for example, get to Bangkok in the same tier, as it is about 7,300 miles.

The second tool, Great Circle Mapper, is useful if you know exactly where you want to go.

Simply go to gcmap.com and enter two or more airport codes in the search bar at the top, separated by hyphens.

For our example, just enter YVR-ICN and search.

With these two tools, you can determine exactly how far your Aeroplan points can take you.
